Farmer in Palestine: When we are finally free I would issue passports for everyone who stood with us

How not to despair but follow a vision that seems very far off

The topic of today is one of the core reasons why I question my country and my profession. We'll talk about a free Palestine. My guest is a farmer from the illegally occupied West bank. We try talking about Palestine in the most constructive way possible in such a dystopian scenario: we try to be human and honest and graceful while people are getting killed in horrific ways every day with weapons and political support from the big powers of the international community - also from my country.

After so many months of death and destruction it is still or even more so quite difficult to talk about Palestine. What is there left to say? We have seen so much horror on our screens and so much dehumanizing, misleading media. We have also seen soulful stories of truth of course and we've seen solidarity. Here and now you get a human being talking from his chest and heart. I hope it serves YOUR heart.

What impressed me most is that he can talk about Palestine without bitterness even though there are a lot of reasons to be not only bitter. But instead he manages to actually be full of hope. That is because he has a bigger vision that keeps him going. A one state solution, a free Palestine. How this could look like, he will tell you further down the episode.

The conversation might be challenging for some of you and a relief for others. Tell me in the comments or messages how it was for you. Lets keep talking about Palestine, a free Palestine.

There is no paywall to this episode, so I'd appreciate if you consider making a fair contribution to Radio Utopistan via Substack or on our website if you are not a member yet. And share the episode if you want to spread the word. Thank you.

If you are in Hamburg the next weeks or know somebody there come to our exhibition on nature and justice. Palestine will also be there. Down to Earth - Territories.

Elisabeth

I am a journalist and writer from Germany. Questioning both, journalism and Germany.
I was working as an investigative reporter and news person in corporate media, then published a book on the revolutionary idea of Rights of Nature and founded Radio Utopistan. I wanted to bring more soul to the table than classical media allows. My political heart and mind revolve mainly around nature and Palestine, two seemingly doomed topics that taught me a lot about how to stay constructive in the face of crisis.
I also do readings, lectures and workshops. Every now and then I still publish in classical media like ARD or ZEIT online. Reach out if you want to work with me.
